The motoryacht Mercury is a 1946 Elco 47 Deluxe Cruiser sailed on the New
England coast.
Elco was one of the preeminent yacht builders of it's time, with a client list including Rothschild, Kennedy, Carnegie, Astor and Vanderbilt. Through WWII, they became the largest manufacturers of PT boats for the war effort.
A later model Elco, Mercury is a rare vessel. Of 11 hulls built, only 3
remain in the world. Mercury is the only boat that has been maintained
in the spirit of her original design...the last of a scarce breed. With
a hull based exactly on a 2/3 scale of the Elco PT boat, Mercury combines
the speed and handling capabilities learned at wartime with the luxury
and opulence that made Elco famous.
